Georg Hajdu's QUINTET.NET

This software allows up to 5 players to perform together over the internet, while the audience can listen to the performance all over the world. The audience can also follow the score, since the notes appear on the computer screen in realtime. First Performance in 2001 with Erhard Hirt, Anne LaBerge, Lawrence Casserley, Philippe Micol - and Georg Hajdu as the conductor.

MPEG-Movie of the Orpheus Crystal performance in 2002.

All photos are from my second Quintet.net performance with "Orpheus Crystal - an opera in two media", composed by Manfred Stahnke, performed 2002 at the Munich Biennale and on the internet. Orpheus' singing and the actions of the on-stage percussionist have been transmitted via the Internet to musicians in Amsterdam, New York, and San Francisco. They heard the music and also saw it written out as musical notation in real-time and without delay on their monitors. This made it possible for them to immediately respond to the arriving sonic and visual information with their own musical instruments. Their improvisations have likewise been encoded and transmitted via the Internet, thus becoming a visual and audible component of the live performance in Munich. The visual part of the opera was transmitted via Realplayer.

Internet musicians: Anne La Berge, Erhard Hirt, Marko Ciciliani, Barbara Lüneburg, Mari Kimura, Hans Tammen, David Wessel, Chris Brown, Roberto Morales.
